Classic Honda Provides Brand New Honda Fit to Peel Police for Special Olympics

Classic Honda has donated a brand new 2017 Honda Fit to Peel Regional Police for use during the 2017 Special Olympics Provincial Summer Games.

The car will be driven by Peel Police Staff Sergeant and Games Manager Debbie Pendlebury, and will help advertise and promote the games across the Region of Peel. Sergeant Pendlebury will drive the vehicle to visit venues, community partners, sponsors, community groups, and the Athlete's Village until the end of July.

The Fit has been wrapped in custom graphics to showcase the partnership between Classic Honda and Peel Regional Police, and is bright yellow in colour to help it stand out on the road. It is a top-of-the-line EX model equipped with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a one-touch power moonroof, integrated fog lights, and the Honda LaneWatch blind spot display system.

Classic Honda General Manager Simon Aria said he is very proud of his dealership's partnership with Peel Regional Police, and hopes that the donation will be the start of a long-lasting association. "The provision of the Honda Fit to Peel Police is not just a one-off donation. Rather, it signifies the beginning of a relationship with our regional police force. Classic Honda is very proud of this union, and hopes to provide long-term support to Peel Regional Police", said Simon.

The Games are being held in the Peel Region from July 13 to 16, and will feature athletics, soccer, softball, golf and bocce. Brampton will host athletics, bocce, the opening/closing ceremonies and the athlete's victory party, whereas Mississauga will host soccer and softball and Caledon will host golf.

Performance Auto Group partakes in CIBC Run for the Cure, Raises $2,500

Performance Auto Group has participated in the CIBC Run for the Cure, and has helped raise nearly $2,500 for much-needed research into breast cancer.

The event was held on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Powerade Centre in Brampton, and saw over 1,500 people attend to raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Numerous employees from Performance's GTA locations participated in the run, and donned white and pink shirts to show their support for the cancer foundation.

The team, named Performance Persisters, also set up Performance Auto Group's tent at the event and provided a brand new Honda HR-V as the run's official pace car. The HR-V was wrapped in CIBC Run for the Cure, Performance Auto Group and Classic Honda decals, and attracted a lot of public attention throughout the event. This was the third year in a row that Performance provided a pace car for the run.

Performance Auto Group Employee Services Manager Edith Pencil said she was very proud of the team's efforts, and happy to have exceeded this year's fundraising goal. "I am very pleased to announce that Performance Persisters has surpassed this year's fundraising goal of $1,500, and has managed to raise nearly $2,500. This speaks volumes about the hard work put in by everyone to help raise funds for cancer research, and I am very thankful for that," said Edith.

She also said that Performance Auto Group is deeply committed to the community, and that its participation in the CIBC Run for the Cure is a part of that commitment. "Performance has been participating in the run for over 10 years, and has raised thousands of dollars to date to help fund vital cancer research. We have even provided pace vehicles to the run since 2014. All of this shows that the group cares deeply about the communities in which it operates, and is dedicated to making a positive difference in society," said Edith.

All of the funds raised at the CIBC Run for the Cure will directly help people affected by breast cancer. The money will be used to fund pioneering medical research, and will help improve screening technology, develop new treatments, and support studies into reducing the rate of recurrence.
